The French way of live...
"The courses offered by Alain and Françoise at Tours are designed to provide language tuition appropriate to the individual needs of each student. Normally, the courses offer one-to-one language instruction, though occasionally two people will share the lessons. As well as conversational practice, the language work includes written and oral exercises in grammar, oral and written comprehension and dictations, all challenging but within the student's attainment level. Although spoken language is central to all the work, the courses are designed to serve broader objectives. Students stay at the home of Alain and Françoise. All meals are taken together so there are opportunities for much informal conversation On most afternoons of the week and at weekends, Alain arranges outings to the Loire chateaux, the city of Tour and other places which are interesting in themselves or which have historical connections. During these outings, Alain encourages conversation and this provides a valuable extra opportunity to practise speaking and listening.
Few other courses provide such a comprehensive introduction to the language and culture of France (and at so modest a price!) People who attend group courses often complain that the spread of language ability within the group presents all kinds of problems. At Crotelles, with its individually based approach, this is never a problem. I came away from Crotelles at the end of a three week stay very satisfied with the course: the study sessions, the outings, (I visited 10 chateaux as well as museums, churches, art galleries and even a troglodite house) and the total submersion in the language and culture of France."
