- hat is the minimum and maximum duration of a stay ?
The minimum duration is one week. As for the maximum, it never exceeds two months. On average, our students stay two or three weeks.
- hat other expenditure will there be during the stay ?
Our tariff includes all expenses: 15 hours of lessons per week, 3 meals per day, lodging, loan of books for your course, transport for the visits and excursions. Any expenditure will be according to your wishes: visits to museums or castles, exhibitions.
- When do I have to pay ?
The cost of your stay is to be paid at the time of your enrolment.
- Exactly when is it necessary for me to register ?
Reservations are variable according to the period of the year. For certain periods (in summer or other holidays in particular), we advise you to register at least two weeks in advance.
- Is it difficult to get to Tours ?
The town of Tours is 55 minutes direct journey by train (TGV), starting from Paris (Montparnasse station). Consult our page of links.
- Are special meals possible ?
The purpose of your stay is to learn French but also to discover the French life style. This is why we will help you discover French culinary specialities which you will also be able to learn how to cook. Of course, if you are not allowed certain foods, we will adapt the meals as necessary.
- Why are your tariffs lower than other schools ?
We remind to you that we are not a school. You will send your stay in our family where you will follow a course and where you will be accommodated. We do not have the same operating expenses as a school or an institute, which explains the difference in price. Moreover, this total immersion is beneficial to training and the comprehension of French.
- How many hours of lessons are there per week ? It is possible to have more hours ?
15 hours are envisaged per week at a rate of 3 hours every morning. Of course, it is possible to increase this number subject to the availability of the teacher. This is why we ask you to plan your stay several months in advance.
- Which examinations can participants take ?
Not being a school or a centre, we do not arrange entry for any examination. At the end of your stay, the result will be according to the duration of the course and your starting level.
- Where is your house located ? Is it in the centre of town ?
Our house is located in the town of Tours, 5 minutes from the historic centre of the city. You can go there by bus or on foot.
- At the time of my stay, will there be other students ?
We can accommodate up to 3 students simultaneously. This number varies according to the periods of the year. If you wish to be alone at the time of your stay, we ask you to state your request in good time, in order to organise your stay. Moreover the cost can vary according to the period of the year.
- How are the visits and excursions arranged ?
We place at your disposal booklets and guides so that you can make your own choices of excursions. Of course, we advise you and will accompany you there.
- Is there a service or meeting at the station, or at the airport ? Is this free ?
At the time of your arrival in the town of Tours, we come to welcome you at the station or at Parcay-Meslay airport, and like wise we take you back at the time of your departure. This transport is included in the price of the stay.
- Can you issue a French student card ?
We remind to you that we are not a school but a host family. So we do not issue student cards.
- In the event of cancellation of the booking or shortened stay, what are the conditions for giving a refund ?
The percentage of the total sum refunded is dependent on the period given in the form of written notice of cancellation before the anticipated start date:
- More than 90 days: 50 % of fees
- Between 60 and 90 days: 80 % of fees
- Less than 60 days: 0 % of fees (no refund) .
- What papers are necessary to come to France ?
If you reside in a European country, an identity card or passport. For non-Europeans, you will need a passport and perhaps a visa. In this case, the French Embassy in your country will inform you. We do not do play any part in requests for visas.
For students, it is an advantage to have a student card in order to benefit from special rates for entrance to museum and castles.
- And money for a daily newspaper ?
It is always advisable to have a few euros, for a taxi or the underground for example. You can change your currency in many places: banks or exchange offices. Travellers' cheques (made out in euros) and credit cards (especially Visa and MasterCard) are accepted in a lot of shops and there are a great number of bank cash machines where one can withdraw money day or night.
- What level is necessary ?
At least one year French but the courses are adapted according to the rhythm of each participant.
